All these Tsunami news are breaking my heart. I’m praying for everyone in Japan, for the safety of my fellow Filipinos here in the Philippines, and to all the other countries that might be affected :(

Chances are, you’ve already seen Discovery Channel’s “The World is Just Awesome” station ID - the one with the catchy “boom de yada” lyrics. Yes, this is the one where their hosts as well as people from different walks of life proclaim why they love the world. And, chances are, the song probably stuck around as your “Last Song Syndrome” for a couple of days.

This year, Discovery Channel is airing a different version of their popular “The World Is Just Awesome” station ID - WWF-Philippines style! Of course, our National Ambassadors Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez and even staff from WWF and Hamilo got in on the action!

Earth hour is on March 26, our graduation day! :D

Let me fill you in. Here are the reasons why the game will not take place in the Philippines:
Martinez told PhilStar.com that they checked three possible venues in the country but found “no football stadium acceptable” to the Asean Football Federation (AFF). One of these venues, the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod, only has 500 luminous lights—less than half of the 1,200 FIFA standard, he said. - But recently elected PFF Interim President Mariano Araneta Jr. quoted “(The Philippine Olympic Committee Chairman Monico) Puentevella has announced he is ready to arrange the installation of the required lights in Panaad.” (Yahoo News, 2010)
After learning that there is no available venue for the home game, Mr. Martinez gave up our hosting right and it cannot be changed because…
Mr. Martinez has the “final word” because he is still the recognized PFF (Philippine Football Federation) president by FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) EVEN IF HE WAS ALREADY OUSTED FROM THE POSITION. Seriously? :|
SOME INTERESTING FACTS:
If Mr. Martinez gave up our hosting right, we can have the option to have the game in a neutral country BUT HE CHOSE TO HAVE IT IN JAKARTA.
His reason is: “I don’t think a neutral country will be able to generate a crowd bigger than what Jakarta can. I don’t want our team to miss out on the experience of playing before 40,000 to 80,000 fans. I’m also thinking about the gate receipts. So I’ve decided as PFF president, to give Jakarta the right to host both our semi-final matches (Yahoo News, 2010).”- OKAY SO HE CAN DECIDE WHERE TO HAVE THE GAME BUT DID HE EVEN CONSULT THE TEAM ABOUT IT?! OBVIOUSLY, NOT.
Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) actually offered to host the game in their country (and the bill is on them) but the appeal was not granted.
TO MAKE THE STORY SHORT, TEAM PHILIPPINES VS. TEAM INDONESIA WILL TAKE PLACE IN JAKARTA. YEY.
Are they fucking kidding me?!
Martinez don’t get it. The players are not after the 40,000 to 80,000 crowd, they are after the FILIPINO CROWD. What else could be better than having your own countrymen cheering for you during a home game. I’m not a football fan and I seldom watch the game, but I do know how it feels like to play your sport while people from your team (in their case, the whole country) are supporting you all throughout the game.
