Marquez could have won if they’re both in the amateur division but they’re not (as my sister’s boyfriend put it).
Judges saw that most of Marquez’s attacks landed on Manny’s gloves. Some solid punches did hit Manny but if you have observed carefully, Marquez’s moves were not really the kind you’ll expect from someone who transferred to a heavier division just to fight Pacquiao.
Marquez is a counter puncher but because of his transfer, Pacquiao’s team expected him to change and be the aggressor—someone who’ll dictate the fight. Apparently, that was not the case. Marquez still played it safe. If Pacquiao changed his original game plan and became the aggressor, he’ll definitely keep all the viewers at the edge of their seats, but that would be a stupid move since he and his team know that Marquez is a very good counter puncher.
After this last fight Manny now knows by heart all the moves of Marquez, and Marquez knows that as well—-probably that’s why he said this:

In short, Pacman deserved that win.
CONGRATULATIONS PACQUIAO! WE’RE SO PROUD OF YOU! :D
